Programs

The ISU Retirees Association sponsors a free program and a time to visit in each of the following months: September, October, January, February, March, and April. All ISU retirees, spouses, and their guests are invited. Programs are currently being offered as hybrid or all online. The delivery method is determined by the wishes of the presenter and available meeting space.

Newsletter

The ISU Retirees Newsletter, published five times per year, will give the dates, locations, and guest speaker information for programs and other valuable information for your successful retirement. The newsletter is available in electronic and printed forms.

Representation with university

Retiree representation is provided on the University Benefits Committee. Non-voting representation on the Faculty Senate is provided by a member of the ISU Retirees Association Board of Directors.

Education

The ISU Retirees Association was instrumental in the development of the university’s College for Seniors, now called the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Iowa State University (OLLI at Iowa State). Adults of all ages may join this non-profit membership organization dedicated to creating a vibrant community where learning is pursued purely for enjoyment—without tests, grades, or pressure. Curiosity, connection, and enrichment are at the heart of every experience.

Memorial Day Ceremony

The ISU Retirees Association continues the ISU tradition of holding a Memorial Day ceremony to remember retired ISU faculty and staff, their spouses/partners, and current ISU faculty and staff for which we received notification of their passing. Announcements of this event are also printed in the ISU Retirees Newsletter.
