Course Description

Discover the impact of local non-profits shaping Ames and Story County. This course highlights organizations making a difference, including Discover Ames, Boys & Girls Club, Friendship Ark, Story County Community Foundation, and YSS. Learn their missions, hear stories of community impact, and explore ways to get involved. Whether you’re new to the area or a long-time resident, you’ll leave with a deeper connection to the community you call home.

Instructor

Melissa Muschick is the Director of Partner & Community Engagement at Discover Ames, a local non-profit tourism agency. A Nevada, Iowa native and mother of two, she’s deeply committed to community service. Her involvement spans City Council, Friendship Ark Homes, Booster Board, Young Professionals, The Ames Foundation, and countless other committees and volunteer roles. In 2023 alone, she logged 500+ volunteer hours.
