Course Description
Our nation celebrated its first 100 years in 1876, just 12 years after the town of Ames, Iowa had been laid out. Learn what Ames was like at that time and what the local folk did to celebrate the national birthday.
Instructor
Peter Hallock, a native of Kewanee, Illinois—hometown of a few early Ames founders—has a keen interest in Ames history. Peter’s mother graduated from Iowa State, and he had a long career with the Iowa D.O.T. It wasn’t until he moved to Ames and settled in Old Town that he discovered his passion for local history. Now he’s endlessly enthusiastic about it.
