Course Description
Geocaching is an easy hobby that you can enjoy near your home or while you travel. It is a modern variation of “hide and seek” that combines GPS (global positioning system) technology and people who hide caches (things in containers). Participants will learn the basics of geocaching: what a geocache is, equipment used, history of GPS and navigation, how to set up a free account, how to enjoy geocaching, and some variations from basic geocaching.
Instructor
LeRoy Kester has coached various sports, taught middle school science, and several adult education PC classes. He has been a member of Geocaching.com since 2005 with logged geocaches in Iowa and other states. Additionally, he has used handheld GPS units for bicycling and offroad trails hiking since the early 2000’s.
