Course Description

Ever wondered why muscles seem to vanish with age? Join this interactive session to uncover what sarcopenia is, why it happens, and how it impacts your health and independence. You’ll learn practical strategies—like smart nutrition and simple exercises—to keep muscles strong, spot protein-rich foods, and size up servings. Walk away with a personal goal to boost your strength through better movement or protein intake. Let’s make muscle loss a thing of the past!

Instructor

Sarah L. Francis is a Professor of Food Science and Human Nutrition and State Health and Human Sciences Extension Specialist at Iowa State University. An advocate for healthy aging, she develops and evaluates theory-based nutrition programs to promote health behaviors among older adults and hard-to-reach communities.
