Course Description
Together, we’ll explore the rich history, current impact, and future of Iowa Public Radio (IPR). We will learn about IPR’s origins and the people who shaped it, how today’s newsroom and music teams serve communities across our state and beyond, and discuss what’s ahead as public media evolves. Whether you’re a longtime listener or simply curious about how public radio works, this class offers an engaging, behind-the-scenes look at the service Iowans rely on every day.
Instructor
Myrna Johnson, Executive Director of Iowa Public Radio, has led IPR’s transformation to community ownership, expanded its newsroom, and built a strong digital presence over the last 12 years. She serves on NPR’s board and previously held leadership roles in education, conservation, and public affairs. A Wartburg graduate, she earned her MPA at Harvard.
