Course Description
Urban landscapes provide important conservation opportunities for pollinators. Homeowners can enhance many of these areas by creating native pollinator gardens, incorporating native plants into existing landscapes, and adjusting how we maintain our yards. In this class, we’ll cover important aspects of pollinator conservation, the benefits and opportunities native plants provide, and design a pollinator garden that will work for you. Participants that attend may also have the opportunity to purchase native plants grown by ISU students.

Mykayla Hagaman is the Program Specialist for the Iowa Monarch Conservation Consortium. She earned a MS in Biology at the University of Central Florida, where she collaborated with developers and homeowners to incorporate native plants into suburban landscapes for pollinators, and a BS in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Maine.
