Course Description

As more and more people live to a very old age, healthy longevity is one of our time’s most pressing societal issues. Dr. Peter Martin’s research with very old individuals has demonstrated several critical tasks that older adults face in very late life: optimizing physical health, daily functioning, good cognition, mental health, and happiness. Living a long life can be challenging, but it may also empower individuals to enjoy life at any age.

Instructor

Dr. Peter Martin is University Professor of Human Development and Family Studies at Iowa State University. His research interests include longevity, personality, stress, coping, and well-being. He has served on a number of community boards, including Heartland of Story County, and the Northcrest and Bethany Life communities.
