29 – Planting Pollinator Habitats for Monarchs

Mykayla Hagaman

Mykayla Hagaman is the Program Specialist for the Iowa Monarch Conservation Consortium. She earned a degree in wildlife ecology from the University of Maine and worked as a monarch intern for the Illinois Natural History Survey. For her master’s degree at the University of Central Florida, she collaborated with developers and homeowners to incorporate native plants into suburban landscapes for pollinators.

Course Description

This course will give an overview of monarch conservation efforts in Iowa, there cently proposed threatened listing for the species, and how to establish pollinator gardens for monarchs. Following a short break, there will be a Q&A session, and if there is time at the end, a pollinator garden design workshop.
